Flickplay to Launch Scavenger Hunt in Tokyo with Pac-Man NFTs
Flickplay and Bandai Namco Entertainment are teaming up to celebrate Pac-Man’s 45th anniversary with a Pokémon Go-like scavenger hunt in Tokyo’s Shibuya district.
The event, taking place during the DIG Shibuya Festival from February 8 to 11, 2025, will allow participants to collect Pac-Man-themed NFTs by visiting designated locations.
Combining location-based gameplay with digital collectibles, the event pays homage to the arcade classic whilst embracing new technology.
What is Flickplay?
Flickplay is a platform that enables users to engage with NFT-based digital characters in various interactive ways.
The platform supports several blockchain ecosystems, including Flow, Ethereum, and Polygon, and allows users to integrate their NFTs into digital experiences. Past collaborations include a Bratz Dolls collection, where characters could be used in Flickplay’s GIF creation tool and virtual games.
Flickplay’s focus extends beyond collectibles, aiming to create interoperable NFTs that can be used across multiple platforms and ecosystems.
Details of the Event
The scavenger hunt will take place across more than 40 locations in Shibuya, the neighborhood where Pac-Man was first introduced in 1980. Participants will use Flickplay’s AR app to locate and unlock Pac-Man-themed digital collectibles.
Two collections of NFTs will be available:
- Shibuya-Exclusive Series: Only accessible to those physically participating in the event.
- Global Series: A separate collection will be released for worldwide fans after the festival.
The event is part of the DIG Shibuya Festival and coincides with the celebrations of Pac-Man’s 45-year legacy.
How to get involved?
Participants can purchase an Experience Pass as part of the pre-sale to join the event. The pass provides:
- Access to Flickplay’s in-app currency, Diamonds, needed to claim the NFTs.
- A Pac-Man digital collectible as an initial reward.
During the scavenger hunt, players will use the app to visit specific locations in Shibuya, where they can exchange Diamonds for the limited-edition collectibles.
Flickplay has also announced that participants will receive a “Super Rare Item” as a bonus reward, though further details are yet to be disclosed.
